Bakgatla - Pilanesberg - October 2015
At a late stage we decided to ask Mark Trollope of the Land Cruiser Club to see whether we could join his Samkuier at Bakgatla in Pilanesberg. Very kindly he allowed us to join the group.
Sylvia and I have not been on a camping trip for over a year and it was exciting to use the white Cruiser again.
We arrived early on the day but were not sure where the others would camp so we had a late breakfast at the restaurant at the campsite and then went on a game drive.
Later in the day we used the VHF radio to make contact with the happy campers and they guided us to where they were encamped. On arrival very kind people helped us erect our ground tent.
Early on Saturday morning I slinked around and took pictures of some of the various camping setups. I knew if I did not do this before everyone got up they would be heading off to look at the animals and the opportunity would be lost. Later that evening I took some snaps of some of the people relaxing in the light of the fire.
It is a while since I have played with our camera and I sorted the pictures with the vehicles and the people to the front of this page. A number of pictures of the vehicle line up were taken by others and therefore I have only included one of these pictures. In all I took just over six hundred pictures and have probably not removed enough but then I use the web site to remember the trips we have enjoyed. It is not necessary to go beyond the people pictures unless you want to see some of the animals we found.
The creation of this page including the picture load has taken longer than I expected but hopefully someone will enjoy looking at it.
Thank you to all who made this a lovely weekend for us. We really enjoyed meeting old friends and new people.
Thank you to Tim Inman for the picture of Mark and his family.

The Pielanesberg National Park/Game Reserve has many different animals. The sightings were particularly good and it was very hot while we were there and the waterholes were where the animals congregated.
